Can cats eat raw fish?
In small amounts only. raw fish isn't toxic to cats, but it isn't something to hand over freely either.
Why
Raw fish may contain parasites and bacteria. Some raw fish contains thiaminase, which destroys thiamine (vitamin B1), leading to deficiency.
What to watch for
Parasites: vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss. Thiamine deficiency: lethargy, loss of appetite, neurological problems.
What to do
Offer cooked fish instead. If raw fish was eaten, monitor for symptoms.
For cats specifically:
Raw fish is safe for cats in small amounts, but too much can cause thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency. Cooked fish is safer.
